Con esta funci\u00f3n, el humedal protege la vida marina y la playa para disfrute de los ciudadanos.<\/li><li>Cualquier proyecto impactar\u00e1 negativamente la playa, los arrecifes y su vida marina. Tambi\u00e9n impactar\u00e1 la flora y fauna del lugar. \u00a1Un desastre Ecol\u00f3gico!<\/li><li>La parcela se identific\u00f3 que es susceptible a Inundaci\u00f3n, tsunami, marejada cicl\u00f3nica, es barrera costanera y h\u00e1bitat de tortugas en peligro de extinci\u00f3n.<\/li><li>La calle Luquillo Beach Boulevard es la \u00fanica que da acceso y actualmente hay problemas graves con la congesti\u00f3n vehicular.\u00a0Un nuevo proyecto de viviendas empeorar\u00eda la situaci\u00f3n.<\/li><li>Los residentes actualmente ya sufren problemas con en el servicio de agua potable, energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica y recolecta de aguas negras.\u00a0A\u00f1adir nuevas viviendas complicar\u00eda m\u00e1s la situaci\u00f3n.<\/li><li>En el bosque se sit\u00faa del lado opuesto de un r\u00edo donde hay evidencia documentada de artefactos con valor arqueol\u00f3gico relacionados al yacimiento La Monserrate. Arque\u00f3logos indican que la probabilidad de yacimientos arqueol\u00f3gicos en ese bosque es muy alta pero no ha sido todav\u00eda estudiada por falta de recursos.<\/li><li>El pueblo de Luquillo tiene m\u00faltiples viviendas y un sector industrial en estado de abandono. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 destruir un \u00e1rea virgen para construir cuando se pudiera habilitar todas estas propiedades?<\/li><li>En todo este proceso no ha habido transparencia por parte del desarrollador y agencias gubernamentales.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">WHY TO PROTECT?<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator aligncenter has-text-color has-background has-ast-global-color-1-background-color has-ast-global-color-1-color\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull has-ast-global-color-4-background-color has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The area proposed for construction is a \u201cspecially protected ecological rustic land\u201d according to the Puerto Rico Land Usage Plan.<\/li><li>The forest is part of a wetland which functions as a filter for runoff that comes down from the mountains and high rural areas. With this function, the wetland protects marine life and the beach for the enjoyment of citizens.<\/li><li>Any project will negatively impact the beach, the reefs, and their marine life. It will also impact the flora and fauna of the place. An ecological disaster!<\/li><li>The plot was identified as being susceptible to flooding, tsunami, storm surge, it is a coastal barrier and habitat for turtles in danger of extinction.<\/li><li>Luquillo Beach Boulevard is the only street that provides access and there are currently serious problems with traffic congestion. A new housing project would worsen the situation.<\/li><li>Residents are currently experiencing problems with drinking water, electricity and sewage collection services. Adding new homes would further complicate the situation.<\/li><li>In the forest it is located on the opposite side of a river where there is documented evidence of artifacts with archaeological value related to the La Monserrate site. Archaeologists indicate that the probability of archaeological sites in that forest is very high but has not yet been studied due to lack of resources.<\/li><li>The town of Luquillo has multiple houses and an industrial sector in a state of abandonment.
